Climbing Beyond Limits: Meet Rawan Dakik
Rawan Dakik is a Tanzanian-Lebanese mountaineer who made history in 2021 as the first Tanzanian woman, the youngest African, and of the youngest women from the Middle East to summit Mt. Everest at just 20 years old.
Raised at the foot of Kilimanjaro, she began climbing at 13 and has since conquered five of the Seven Summits. Appointed Tanzania’s Tourism Ambassador, Rawan carries a rare blend of technical expertise, high-altitude experience, and deep love for her homeland’s landscapes.
Today, through Dakik Expeditions, she invites adventurers to experience East Africa’s greatest mountains the way only a record-breaking local can show them: safely, authentically, and with stories from the top of the world.

The staff was 10/10 prepared for us. From navigating the mountain, to managing our altitude sickness to preparing us for the summit night. They were very helpful along the way. Babalu, our head guide has climbed the summit literally 500+ times ( I really believed it was close to 800) so one can expect him to be as knowledgeable about this summit as he really is.
